On November 20, during the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company (SG Jiangsu) proudly launched its inaugural sustainable development casebook, titled "Accelerating Energy Transition for Climate Action." This publication showcases China's tangible achievements in fostering green and low-carbon transformation, as well as sustainable development, to a global audience.

As the largest state-owned enterprise in Jiangsu Province and a pivotal player in the region's energy sector, SG Jiangsu is committed to the "dual carbon" goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. The company is at the forefront of constructing a new-type power system in Jiangsu, driving the energy revolution, ensuring reliable energy supply, delivering high-quality services, and promoting energy conservation and carbon reduction. SG Jiangsu embraces significant responsibilities as a pioneer in the low-carbon transformation of Jiangsu's energy landscape.

The casebook features ten innovative practices and success stories from SG Jiangsu, encompassing various aspects of sustainable development, including energy supply, grid construction, renewable energy development, energy conservation, and emission reduction. It highlights the proactive efforts of SG Jiangsu's units in advancing the new energy system, establishing a modern power framework, fostering low-carbon industrial growth, accelerating the rural energy revolution, and enhancing energy conservation and carbon reduction on the consumption side.

Through detailed data and compelling case studies, the casebook illustrates SG Jiangsu's impressive accomplishments in promoting green and low-carbon development, improving energy efficiency, and ensuring energy security.

In its pursuit of an advanced energy system, SG Jiangsu has launched E-Park, an initiative designed to explore the interaction between electric vehicles and the power grid, thereby enhancing the absorption and utilization of clean energy for mutual benefit. Additionally, by optimizing operational strategies and control technologies for microgrids, SG Jiangsu has fostered a harmonious relationship between microgrids and the main grid, significantly improving the overall efficiency and reliability of the energy system.

In constructing a new-type power system, SG Jiangsu has harnessed river water as a natural cooling source, employing heat pump technology to provide heating and cooling for urban buildings. This innovative approach effectively reduces energy consumption and carbon emissions while promoting the development of green buildings in riverside cities. Furthermore, the company has established smart microgrids and energy management systems that achieve energy self-sufficiency and zero carbon emissions in scenic areas, setting a benchmark for green tourism development.

To empower low-carbon industrial growth, SG Jiangsu has introduced renewable energy technologies, such as wind and solar power, to provide sustainable energy solutions for the cement industry, thereby promoting energy conservation and emission reduction. The company has also constructed shore power facilities at inland river ports in Wuxi, replacing traditional diesel generators with clean electricity for ships, thus facilitating the green transformation of inland river shipping.

In its efforts to accelerate the rural energy revolution, SG Jiangsu supports the high-quality development of circular agriculture by promoting smart agricultural technologies and new energy applications. This initiative enhances the resource utilization of agricultural waste and reduces carbon emissions. Additionally, through technological innovation and management optimization, SG Jiangsu ensures the safe integration of rural photovoltaic systems into the grid, bolstering green energy development in rural areas.

On the consumption side, SG Jiangsu employs digital tools to meticulously manage carbon emissions during the production processes of enterprises, making the "green content" of their production traceable. The company also constructs smart microgrids and renewable energy generation facilities to provide clean and reliable energy supplies for islands, promoting green and low-carbon development in these regions.

As a significant global conference on climate change, COP29 serves as a platform for governments, enterprises, and social organizations worldwide to exchange ideas and collaborate.
