The 2024 World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference, themed "Innovation Empowers the Future, Skills Shape Lives," concluded in North China's Tianjin Municipality on Friday.

Vice Minister of Education Wu Yan attended the closing ceremony and delivered a speech. He pointed out that the conference was a major event for vocational education characterized by high standards, significant exchanges and fruitful outcomes. Wu also highlighted the fact that the event was meant as a catalyst for change, marked by openness and inclusivity. 

The conference fully demonstrated the trust of various countries in China's educational system, their recognition of this event's importance and their expectations for the development of world vocational education. The conference launched a series of major international public products for vocational education, and built a brand-new international platform for exchanges among the global vocational education community.

During the conference, the "Tianjin Consensus on the Development of World Vocational and Technical Education - Declaration of Ministers of 32 Countries", which was discussed and adopted by 40 heads of education or relevant departments from 32 countries including China, was officially released. The document outlines the key concepts, visions, initiatives and actions necessary for the development of global vocational education.

The "Tianjin Consensus" established a shared commitment to building a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable vocational and technical education system and to continuously strengthening exchanges and cooperation in global vocational and technical education, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

At the closing ceremony, the "Report on the Development of Vocational Education in China" was released, along with the List of Demand for Skilled Workers in specific sectors. Additionally, the World TVET Prize was awarded, and the launching ceremony of the journal "World Vocational and Technical Education" was held.
