A US P-8A anti-submarine patrol aircraft transited the Taiwan Straits on Tuesday and hyped its activity. The PLA Eastern Theater Command deployed naval and air forces to track and monitor the aircraft throughout its entire course. The forces remained on high alert and handled the situation effectively, said Senior Colonel Cao Jun, a spokesperson for the air force of the PLA Eastern Theater Command, in a statement on Tuesday.

The US remarks distort legal principles, create confusion, and mislead international understanding, Cao said, urging the US side to stop its distortion and hyping, and work together to maintain regional peace and stability.
