Plaintiffs hold up a sign reading "Appeal dismissed" in front of the Sendai High Court in Japan on November 27, 2024. The lawsuit, filed by local residents for an injunction against the operation of Tohoku Electric Power's Onagawa Nuclear Power Plant Unit 2, claimed "there are flaws in the evacuation plan prepared by the local government in preparation for a serious accident." Sendai High Court dismissed the lawsuit. Onagawa Nuclear Power Plant Unit 2 had been shut down due to a massive earthquake in 2011, but last month it became the first nuclear power plant at the disaster-stricken area to be restarted.
