Air China celebrated the 30th anniversary of its "PhoenixMiles" frequent flyer program with a grand event in Beijing themed "Life's Journey, Together with PhoenixMiles" on Wednesday.
The celebration showcased PhoenixMiles' key services, reflected on three decades of growth, and unveiled a new VIP membership rewards program. Over 300 guests attended the event, including officials from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the CAAC North China Regional Administration, the General Administration of Sport of China, and PhoenixMiles members.
Launched in 1994 as the first frequent flyer program in mainland China, Air China's "PhoenixMiles" has grown into a leading loyalty program in Asia. It was re-branded in 2013, marking a new phase of integrated operations. Over the past 30 years, PhoenixMiles has achieved historic milestones, including significant membership growth, enhanced member engagement, and increased revenue contributions. These achievements underscore the program's role as a vital platform for resource sharing and synergy among Air China Group members, while also highlighting the airline's brand strength and core competitiveness in the market.

At the event, leaders from China National Aviation Holding Co., Air China, Shenzhen Airlines, and other subsidiaries participated, alongside 85 PhoenixMiles members, 17 non-aviation partners, and 8 airline partners.
Air China Group introduced its revamped PhoenixMiles program, designed to meet members' needs at every stage of travel. The event previewed 2025 membership upgrades, highlighted service improvements both on the ground and in the air, and showcased new smart features on its digital platforms, reflecting its dedication to enhancing the travel experience.

A VIP rewards program was also announced, offering Gold Card members and above perks such as upgrade vouchers and mileage extensions for meeting spending thresholds starting in January 2025.
In celebration of PhoenixMiles' 30th anniversary, special Saturday flights on select routes will be launched in December 2024, featuring double mileage rewards and exclusive gifts.
The day before the event, Air China held a themed flight activity to mark the 30th anniversary of the PhoenixMiles program. Operated by Air China, Shenzhen Airlines, Shandong Airlines, and Air Macau, planes from Chengdu in Southwest China's Sichuan Province, Shenzhen in South China's Guangdong Province, Xiamen in East China's Fujian Province Province, and Macao Special Administrative Region, flew to Beijing, marking the launch the celebration event.
Air China stated that it remains committed to a people-centered approach to meet diverse passenger needs and enhance satisfaction. It will continue to refine the PhoenixMiles program through innovation, striving to improve service quality and address evolving travel demands.
