On November 23, during the 2024 UFC Fight Night in Macao Special Administrative Region, 29-year-old Chinese athlete Shi Ming defeated fellow Chinese fighter Feng Xiaocan to claim the women's strawweight championship.

According to media reports, Shi was born in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province and began practicing martial arts at the age of 13. She has trained in Taekwondo, Sanda, and wrestling, among other disciplines. Later, influenced by her grandfather, who practiced traditional Chinese medicine, she enrolled in Yunnan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, choosing acupuncture and massage as her major.

Currently, Shi is a professional physician, and only a few colleagues at her hospital know that she participates in fighting competitions during her breaks.

Her career as an acupuncture doctor provides Shi with a stable income after stepping out of the ring. She finds this profession interesting and meaningful, as traditional Chinese medicine not only helps alleviate her patients' suffering but also allows her and her teammates to receive excellent treatment for injuries. The contrast between her powerful presence in the octagon and her shy demeanor in everyday life has quickly made Shi a sensation online.
