Recently, a man surnamed Shi spent over 170,000 yuan on fake drugs. After realizing he had been scammed, the man went to the local police at the Shunqing District Public Security Bureau to report the case, falsely claiming he had been defrauded in an online investment scheme hoping the police would help him recover his funds.
However, the police quickly detected inconsistencies in Shi's statements. Police investigations revealed the truth, leading to the arrest of two suspects surnamed Wang and Shi, respectively.
According to Shi, he had previously met a person from Nanchong, Southwest China's Sichuan Province online, who claimed to be a court judge and who lured him into a high-return investment project. Driven by the prospect of profit, Shi traveled to Nanchong with over 170,000 yuan in cash, only to find that the other party disappeared after receiving the money. After failing to locate the person through various means, Shi reported to police, hoping they could track down the scammer and recover his money.
Upon receiving Shi's report, local police divided into two teams to follow his leads. However, after extensive investigation, the police found that there was no record of the "court judge" and many details contradicted Shi's account.
Police investigations revealed that Shi, eager to get rich quickly, thought he could make quick money by selling drugs, and he connected with Wang, who was allegedly "selling drugs." After some chatting, they agreed to conduct a transaction in Nanchong. Upon returning, Shi discovered that what Wang was selling was not medicine, but fake goods made from substances like alum.
