After deliberation by the Standing Committee of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and approval by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, it has been decided to expel three senior officials from the CPC over serious violations of Party discipline and laws, according to three separate statements released by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and the National Commission of Supervision on Tuesday.
Wu Yingjie, a former member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), has been expelled from the CPC and dismissed from public office over serious violations of Party discipline and laws, according to Xinhua News Agency.
Wu was also former head of the Committee on Culture, Historical Data and Studies of the CPPCC National Committee.
An investigation revealed that while working in relevant positions, Wu failed to implement the Party's policies for governing the Xizang Autonomous Region in the new era and meddled in local projects for personal gain, according to a statement from the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision, Xinhua reported.
Wu also violated the Party leadership's eight-point decision on improving conduct and took undue advantage of his positions to seek benefits for others in matters such as project contracting and accept massive bribes in return.
Wu's actions constituted serious duty-related violations, and he is also suspected of bribery. His illegal gains will be confiscated, and the case will be transferred to procuratorial authorities for review and prosecution, the statement noted, per Xinhua report.
Zhang Jianchun, former deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, has been expelled from the CPC and dismissed from public office, China's top anti-graft body said on Tuesday.
The decision was made following the conclusion of an investigation into Zhang for serious violations of Party discipline and laws, according to a statement released by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision, Xinhua reported.
The investigation revealed that Zhang accepted arrangements for banquets, accommodation, travel and other activities that may influence the fair execution of his official duties, violating the central Party leadership's eight-point decision on improving conduct.
It added that Zhang had been uncooperative in the investigation into his case and failed to report personal matters according to relevant regulations.
Zhang was also found to have abused his power to seek benefits for others in matters including business operation, project contracting, and job promotion, accepting huge amounts of money and property in return, Xinhua reported.
In line with Party regulations and laws, a decision has been made to expel him from the Party, remove him from public office, and confiscate his illicit gains.
Zhang was also deprived of his qualification as a delegate to the 20th CPC National Congress.
The case will be referred to the procuratorate for review and prosecution, according to the statement, per Xinhua.
Wang Bo, former deputy head of the standing committee of the people's congress of North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has been expelled from the CPC, according to the China's top anti-graft body on Tuesday.
