China urged the US to adhere to the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiqués, to handle Taiwan question with caution, and to refrain from sending any wrong signals to Taiwan independence separatist forces, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Thursday.

Mao made the remarks during a regular press conference on Thursday when responding to inquiries concerning reports claiming that Taiwan regional authorities had sent two officials to Washington to meet with President-elect Donald Trump’s team. 

The spokesperson stated that China’s position on the Taiwan question remains consistent and clear.
