Chinese FM responds to Sri Lankan President’s reported visit to China in mid-January

China and Sri Lanka are sincere and mutually supportive strategic cooperative partners with a long-standing friendship. The two countries maintain close high-level exchanges, Mao Ning, spokesperson from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in response to media reports saying that Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake plans to visit China in mid-January. Regarding the specific visit, we will release information in a timely manner, Mao added.

We are willing to continue momentum of high-level interactions with Sri Lanka, carry forward traditional friendship, and expand cooperation and exchanges in various fields to better benefit the people of both countries, Mao added.

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Saturday announced plans for an official visit to China in mid-January, according to Indian media out the Hindu on Saturday.
