Update: Chinese Consulate General in Aktobe confirms no Chinese on board the crashed plane near Kazakhstan’s Aktau

Chinese Consulate General in Aktobe confirmed on Wednesday that there is no Chinese on board the crashed plane near Kazakhstan's Aktau, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

The Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan also confirmed with the Global Times that there is no Chinese on board the crashed plane. The Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan and the embassy and consulates in Azerbaijan have activated their response mechanism, Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan said.

A passenger plane crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan on Wednesday and initial reports suggested there were survivors, the Central Asian country's Emergencies Ministry said in a statement, Reuters reported.

27 people have been hospitalized as a result of the crash, Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan told APA. Among the injured, three are children.

APA said in an early report that 72 people were on board the aircraft.

"A total of 52 rescuers from the Kazakh Emergencies Ministry and 11 pieces of equipment arrived at the crash site. Upon arrival, they saw the plane in flames. Firefighters are now extinguishing it. The information about the injured is being clarified, but according to preliminary data there are survivors," said a statement from the Emergencies Ministry, according to TASS.

The "Azerbaijan Airlines" aircraft performing flight J2-8243 from Baku to Grozny, an "Embraer 190" airplane, made an emergency landing 3 kilometers near the city of Aktau, APA-Economics reports citing Kazakhstani media.
