Ambassador of Malawi to China Allan Chintedza held talks with Xin Baoan, chairman of the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) at the headquarters of GEIDCO in Beijing on December 24, 2024, exchanging views on deepening cooperation between Malawi and China.

Xin welcomed Chinteza to visit GEIDCO again.

He stated that the organization attaches great attention to cooperation with Malawi.

Xin noted that during the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in September 2024, Malawi's President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera visited GEIDCO. Leaders of both sides held cordial and friendly talks and clarified the focus of cooperation.

Recently, GEIDCO dispatched a team of technical experts to Malawi to conduct field research and hold technical capacity building training on electric vehicles and power grid operation, Xinsaid.

The team will also continue to deepen cooperation in planning and research, projects implementation, capacity training and other aspects to achieve more practical results, according to Xin.

Chinteza thanked GEIDCO for its work in accelerating energy and power development in Malawi.

He stressed the importance of energy and power security as the country is actively promoting industrial development.

It is expected that GEIDCO will take advantage of its professional and technical position.

Moreover, the organization can play the role of a platform for inviting more Chinese enterprises to Africa, especially Malawi, to support Malawi's clean energy development and power grid upgrades, said Ambassador Chinteza.
