China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) on Tuesday expressed firm opposition to the US' addition of 11 Chinese companies to its "Entity List" citing so-called military-related reasons, urging the US to immediately stop its wrongdoing and vowing to take necessary measures to protect Chinese entities' rights and interests.
Asked to comment on the US Department of Commerce's announcement of adding a number of Chinese entities to its export control "Entity List" on January 3, a spokesperson for the MOFCOM said that the US added 11 Chinese entities to the list on the grounds of so-called military involvement. "China firmly opposes this," the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson further noted that for a long time, the US has overstretched the concept of national security, abused export control measures, suppressed and contained entities in other countries, seriously damaged the legitimate rights and interests of relevant entities, undermined the security and stability of the global industrial chain and supply chain, and hindered the recovery and development of the world economy.
"China urges the US to immediately stop its wrong practices and will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese entities," the spokesperson said.
A Chinese expert has also
slammed the US' latest move as "detrimental to itself," as the move is politically motivated, risks disrupting global supply chains, and undermines market balance and stability.
