Ambassador of Nepal to China Krishna Prasad Oli met with Yang Wanming, president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) in Beijing on January 7. The two sides held talks on China-Nepal relations, and people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

Yang welcomed the ambassador, who recently assumed his new role, and extended his New Year greetings. He said that China and Nepal are both countries with ancient civilizations. Connected by mountains and rivers, the two countries have cultural connections and friendship spanning many generations. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 70 years ago, China and Nepal have always respected, trusted, and supported each other, and bilateral relations have maintained healthy and stable development.

The CPAFFC is willing to take the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Nepal as an opportunity to work with the Embassy of Nepal to build more bridges for people-to-people exchanges, practical cooperation, and youth friendship, said Yang.

Pragmatic cooperation will make greater contributions to China and Nepal's everlasting friendly strategic partnership oriented toward development and prosperity, said Yang.

Ambassador Oli stated that Nepal supports the Global Development Initiative and Global Civilization Initiative proposed by China.

The embassy would like to work closely with the CPAFFC to jointly promote exchanges and mutual learning between the two civilizations, enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples, strengthen friendly exchanges between Nepali and Chinese youth and think tanks, and deepen the exchanges in the fields of climate change and agriculture. The embassy and the CPAFFC can jointly build a closer Nepal-China community of shared future, the ambassador said.
