As agreed between China and the UK, the 11th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue will be held on Saturday in Beijing, China's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun announced on Friday.
It will be co-chaired by Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council He Lifeng and British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves as the lead persons of the Dialogue, said Guo.
In response to a question asking for relevant background and expectations about the Dialogue, as it is being organized after a gap of almost six years, Guo noted that this high-level dialogue mechanism, established in 2008, is an important platform for dialogue and cooperation on major strategic, global and long-term issues in the field of economy and finance.
During this dialogue, China and the UK will discuss macroeconomic policies and topics including economic globalization, trade and investment, industrial cooperation, financial market development and financial regulatory cooperation, the spokesperson said.
As the world's major economies and financial powers, the enhancement of economic and financial exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK is in line with the interests of the two countries and the expectations of all walks of life, which is of great significance to the two countries in promoting economic growth and green development, and will also add certainty and inject new impetus into the development of the world economy, Guo noted.
We look forward to exploring more cooperation between the two sides through this dialogue and promoting more practical results in China-UK economic and financial cooperation, he said.
