Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun
A Chinese Foreign Ministry (FM) spokesperson on Tuesday emphasized China's willingness to enhance dialogue and communication with the US to properly manage differences, calling on the US to meet China halfway to foster the stable, healthy and sustainable development of bilateral economic and trade relations.
FM spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks during a regular press briefing in response to a media question about the newly inaugurated President Trump's reported plan for his administration to investigate China's trade practices without announcing new tariff measures.
The essence of China-US economic and trade cooperation is mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. Maintaining stable development of China-US economic and trade relations aligns with the fundamental interests of both countries and their peoples, and is also beneficial for the development of the global economy, Guo said.
China is willing to strengthen dialogue and communication with the US, properly manage differences and expand mutually beneficial cooperation based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, Guo noted.
We hope that the US will work with China in the same direction to jointly promote the stable, healthy and sustainable development of China-US economic and trade relations, the spokesperson said.
