Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun
In response to a media report suggesting that Chinese officials are building a list of US technology companies that can be targeted with antitrust probes, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday's press briefing that "I am not aware of the specific issue you mentioned. China consistently opposes the generalization of the national security concept and the politicization of economic, trade, and technological issues."
The Wall Street Journal published a report on Sunday titled "China's Strategy in Trade War: Threaten U.S. Tech Companies," claiming that Chinese officials are building a list of US technology companies that can be targeted with antitrust probes and other tools, hoping to influence the tech executives who are heavily represented in President Trump's orbit.
China remains committed to creating a market-oriented, law-based, and international business environment, and the Chinese market treats all countries equally and is open to enterprises from all nations, Guo said.
