Henan Power Grid's New Energy Output Exceeds 30 Million Kilowatts
Published: Feb 12, 2025 07:35 AM
It was reported by the State Grid Henan Electric Power Company that at 11:31 am on February 7, the new energy output of the Henan Power Grid exceeded 30 million kilowatts, reaching 30.77 million kilowatts. The photovoltaic output accounted for 24.4 million kilowatts of the total, and the wind power output was 6.37 million kilowatts, the two combined accounting for 51.1% of the province's electricity load at that moment. Compared with the previous high of 29.37 million kilowatts on August 11, 2024, the output registered an increase of 1.4 million kilowatts.

It is understood that the new record of Henan Power Grid's new energy output is mainly due to the rapid growth of new energy installations. As of the end of January 2025, the total new energy installation capacity in the province reached 68.77 million kilowatts, an increase of 8.6 million kilowatts compared with the same period in 2024. This has now surpassed coal-fired power generation to become the largest power source in the province.

In recent years, in response to the rapid growth of new energy installation capacity, the increased fluctuation of new energy output, and the difficulties in grid peak regulation during low electricity load periods, the power departments have relied on the Henan Province Peak Regulation Ancillary Service Market to deeply explore the peak regulation capacity of centrally controlled thermal power units. At the same time, the unified resource allocation of the large power grid has been appropriately leveraged, applied for interprovincial peak regulation ancillary service market transactions, and the surplus new energy power within the province has been managed so as to participate in interprovincial spot transactions to fully absorb clean energy power within the province. In addition, the peak shaving and valley filling functions of pumped storage power plants and electrochemical energy storage stations have been fully utilized. Additionally, the start-up and shutdown modes of pumped storage units have been reasonably arranged to maximize the absorption of new energy power.
