When asked for further details about Cook Islands' Prime Minister Mark Brown's attendance at the closing ceremony of the Harbin 2025 Asian Winter Games, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Thursday that at the Chinese side's invitation, Prime Minister Brown is visiting China from February 10 to 16 to attend the closing ceremony of the Harbin 2025 Asian Winter Games.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang will meet with Brown in Harbin, and that Brown and his delegation will also visit Shanghai and East China's Shandong Province, Guo said.

The spokesperson noted that the Cook Islands is a cooperative partner of China in the South Pacific region. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have consistently respected one another, treated each other as equals, and pursued common development. In 2018, their bilateral relations were elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The friendly cooperation between the two sides has strong public support and has brought tangible benefits to the people of both nations.

China welcomes Prime Minister Brown's visit as an opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions on bilateral relations and to jointly promote the continuous development of ties between the two countries, Guo said.
