When asked for comments on recent report that Taiwan FactCheck Center said it had received donations from the Open Society Foundations which was created by US investor George Soros, Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on Wednesday that such reports have proved that the so-called "support" from the international community, which the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities frequently mention, is simply an illusion brought with money and manufactured by themselves.

According to Taipei Times on February 11,Taiwan FactCheck Center (TFC) has admitted that it had received donations from the Open Society Foundations (OFS), which was created by US investor George Soros.

The center did receive donations from the OSF in 2021, 2022, July to December 2023 and the first six months of last year, totaling NT$14.487 million (US$441,152), National Chung Cheng University communications professor Lo Shih-hung, a cofounder and chairman of TFC said, according to Taipei Times.

Meanwhile, the US Agency for International Development and other departments have either explicitly or implicitly supported and condoned a number of civil organizations on the island for years to cooperate with the DPP authorities to fabricate "Taiwan independence" fallacies and incite opposition, according to Taiwan media outlet.

These situations have made the world see the true face of certain so-called foundations and think tanks in the US that are used to inciting "color revolutions" in the world to create chaos, Zhu said.
