Huawei unveiled its latest innovative smartphone, the Huawei Pura X, at a product launch event on Thursday. As the first mobile device equipped with HarmonyOS 5, it marks a further evolution of the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
With HarmonyOS 5, the phone features a 1:1 smart interactive outer screen, allowing high-frequency operations to be performed without unfolding the device, significantly enhancing screen efficiency, according to the company at the event.
Recently, a number of companies, including well-known foreign enterprises, have integrated the HarmonyOS system, further enhancing the smart experience of their products.
BMW China signed an agreement with Huawei to facilitate the seamless integration of the HarmonyOS ecosystem into its operations in China, Xinhua News Agency reported on Monday. The German carmaker aims to develop an in-car digital ecosystem specifically tailored for the Chinese market.
"In China, nearly a quarter of our mobile application users rely on Huawei devices. By deeply integrating with the HarmonyOS ecosystem, BMW will enhance in-car applications and digital connectivity services for HarmonyOS users, elevating intelligent experiences in high-frequency use scenarios," said Sean Green, president and CEO of BMW Group Region China, according to Xinhua.
As of March 2025, the HarmonyOS ecosystem already exceeded 1 billion devices, with 7.2 million registered developers and more than 20,000 applications across 18 industries covering finance, education, and manufacturing, China Securities Journal reported.
