Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Fernando Lugris, Uruguay's ambassador to China in Beijing on March 17. 

Miao said that China values the development of China-Uruguay and China-Latin America relations. The country is ready to work with the new Uruguayan government to promote the continued and in-depth development of the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership. It is expected that the Latin-American and Caribbean diplomatic missions in China will continue to contribute to the friendly cooperation between China and Latin America, said Miao. 

Ambassador Lugris warmly congratulated the successful convening of the two sessions, highly affirming China's achievements in development as well as their positive influence to the global economy. He also expressed his appreciation to Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Han Jun attending the inauguration ceremony of Uruguay's new President Yamandu Orsi.

Lugris said that Uruguay has always cherished its relations with China. The bilateral relations will usher in greater development, he said. Meanwhile, the Latin-American and Caribbean diplomatic missions in China are willing to enhance the in-depth development of friendly cooperation between Latin America and China, the ambassador said.
