Centered around world heritage sites such as the Central Axis of Beijing and the Great Wall, the "Top 10 Spring Flower-viewing Destinations" were released by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism in Beijing on Thursday. The list invites residents and visitors to embrace the season and immerse themselves in a sea of blossoms.

From lilac flowers in the Temple of Heaven and apricot blossoms along the Badaling section of the Great Wall to the magnolias in western Beijing's Mentougou district, the top 10 destinations cover diverse scenic spots and cuisines around the area.

With the recent rise in temperature, early spring flowers such as winter jasmine, mountain peach blossoms, and magnolias have begun to bloom across parks in the capital. Over 1,700 boats in parks like the Summer Palace and Beihai Park have set sail, marking the official start of the 2025 flower-viewing season. This floral spectacle in Beijing will unfold from mid-March to May, offering visitors a continuous celebration of spring's beauty, the Beijing Daily reported on Monday.

Li Mengxi, a 42-year-old Beijing resident, told the Global Times on Thursday that he plans to take his daughter to Chaoyang Park over the coming weekend. "I've been to Yuyuantan Park, which is known for its cherry blossoms spectacle. The tulips in Chaoyang Park have bloomed and it is also good for boating and spring outings," he said.

To enhance the nighttime flower-viewing experience and ease weekend crowds, Jingshan Park will host evening viewing events during its peony cultural festival. It will introduce new illuminated areas and expand nighttime viewing zones, creating a fully immersive experience.

The opening of nighttime viewing event depends on the weather and will likely begin in April when the peony flowers are ready to bloom, a staff member of the park told the Global Times on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Yuyuantan Park kicked off its annual cherry blossom festival, while Beijing Zhongshan Park, one of the top 10 destinations, opened its 45-day tulip culture festival on Monday. An exhibition was held to review the development of the Zhongshan Park tulip show over the past 30 years.

Mentougou launched a spring outing guide, inviting tourists to admire magnolias and lilacs at its iconic scenic spots such as the Tanzhe Temple and Jietai Temple. Two cycling routes in the district are listed in the 110 national representative cycling routes.

From Saturday to April 20, the Beijing Municipal Administration Center of Parks will launch a biodiversity conservation awareness campaign in some major parks. A series of nature education activities will be held, including floral arrangement workshops, intangible cultural heritage experiences, and hands-on planting sessions, according to the Beijing News.
