The Consulate General of Japan in Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong Province held an inauguration ceremony for the screening of
10 Years with Hayao Miyazaki, an exclusive 4-part documentary chronicling the creative process of the legendary Japanese filmmaker in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, on March 22.
Consul General of Japan in Guangzhou, Kijima (Ina) Yoshiko, said in her opening remarks that "art has no borders. There are many contents in the documentary that can resonate with the creators and it is also interesting for audiences to understand the behind-the-scenes production process of works they are familiar with."
During the event, about 200 participants who work for the Dongguan government, professionals from the animation sector, and audiences watched the film. After the screening, the Consul General and the audience held a panel discussion on the charm of director Hayao Miyazaki and his works.
The screening activity in Dongguan will close on March 30.
