The Embassy of the Republic of Honduras held a reception in Beijing marking the second anniversary of bilateral relations between China and Honduras on March 26, 2025. Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu was invited to the event.

Titled "The Night of the Feathered Serpent," the event kicked off with the two countries' national anthems.

In his opening remarks, Honduran Ambassador to China Salvador Moncada, said "Two years ago, our government took the historic decision to join the overwhelming majority of nations that recognize the People's Republic of China as the legitimate representative of the Chinese people to the world." From March 2023 to date, relations between our two nations have been characterized by a harmonious and cordial tone of mutual respect that stems from shared values, he continued.

The ambassador also noted achievements gained from the last two years through bilateral cooperation. "Regarding bilateral trade, between 2023 and 2024 our exports to the People's Republic of China have almost tripled, with aromatic Honduran coffee now being the main export to the Chinese market, mainly benefiting small and medium-sized enterprises," he noted.

"As a Chinese saying goes, 'Those who have the same ambitions need not fear that mountains and seas will separate them by distance.' China will work with Honduras to further implement the important consensus reached by our presidents and take bilateral relations to higher levels. Let us join hands to write more 'spring stories' for this relationship," said Miao, urging the two peoples to have more visits, cooperation, communication, and mutual understanding.
