China will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) spokesperson stated on Thursday, following the Japanese government's announcement of export controls on over a dozen semiconductor-related items.
The semiconductor industry is highly globalized. Recently, certain countries have repeatedly generalized the concept of national security, abused export control measures, and imposed sanctions on China's semiconductor sector—actions that severely threaten the stability of global semiconductor supply chains. China firmly opposes these practices, the spokesperson emphasized.
The spokesperson noted that China and Japan enjoy strong industrial complementarity in semiconductors, having established deeply integrated cooperation. Japan's new export controls will significantly disrupt normal business exchanges and harm enterprises in both countries.
We hope that Japan will maintain rational decision-making, correct wrong practices in a timely manner, and effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises in various countries, including Chinese and Japanese enterprises, and maintain the stability of the global semiconductor industry chain and supply chain, the spokesperson added.
'We urge Japan to exercise rational decision-making, promptly correct its misguided practices, and effectively protect the legitimate rights of all affected enterprises—including Chinese and Japanese firms—while maintaining global semiconductor supply chain stability," the spokesperson added.
China will take all necessary measures to firmly defend its lawful interests, the spokesperson reaffirmed.
