Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian
In response to an inquiry regarding the Constitutional Court of South Korea's decision on April 4 to uphold the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol and its influence on China-South Korea relations, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that China has taken note of the ruling and related decision, which are internal affairs of South Korea. We hope South Korea will advance its domestic political agenda in an orderly manner and maintain political and social stability, said Lin.
South Korea's Constitutional Court unanimously upheld the impeachment of President Yoon on April 4, removing him from office over his short-lived imposition of martial law in December.
China and South Korea are and will remain close neighbors and inseparable partners. China's policy toward South Korea remains consistent, stable, and predictable, said Lin.
We are willing to work with the South Korean side to stay true to the original aspiration of establishing diplomatic ties, remain committed to the direction of good-neighborly friendship, uphold the goal of mutual benefit and win-win results, and promote the sound and steady development of the China-South Korea strategic cooperative partnership, said the spokesperson.
