Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council
In response to an inquiry about the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities on the Taiwan island hyping the name of their pavilion as "TECH WORLD" at the 2025 Osaka World Expo, claiming that the abbreviation "TW" alludes to "Taiwan" and touting it as a so-called "diplomatic breakthrough," Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on Wednesday that this kind of self-congratulatory behavior is nothing more than deceiving oneself and others.
The DPP authorities are accustomed to using such occasions to play petty tricks and fabricate the illusion of so-called "international presence" in an attempt to mislead the public on the island and deceive the international community. No matter how they stir up trouble, it will never change the fact that Taiwan is a part of China, and it will only invite further ridicule, said Zhu.
Japan has requested that Taiwan explicitly state its pavilion at the World Exposition in Osaka is run by a private firm as Taiwan island is not a member of the Bureau International des Expositions, according to Kyodo News.
