When asked to comment on US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's remarks in a television interview on Sunday suggesting that China might be denying ongoing talks between the US and China on tariffs because China is "playing to a different audience" but that there's a path forward, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun told a regular press conference on Monday that China's position on the tariff war is abundantly clear.

"If a negotiated solution is truly what the US wants, it should stop threatening and blackmailing China, and seek dialogue based on equality, respect and mutual benefit," Guo said.

"Tariff and trade wars have no winners," Guo noted.
