China has consistently opposed illegal unilateral sanctions that lack a basis in international law and are not authorized by the UN Security Council, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a regular press briefing on Thursday, when commenting on inquiry that the US said yesterday it would sanction buyers of Iranian oil.
